Job Description - Aurelia Aurita - CEO

Are you the CEO who will radically increase sustainability in air mobility?

Working in partnership with the team at TES on a new platform venture, I have first hand experienced the creativity and design insights they bring in digital product development.

Christian Oldendorff - Amplifier

Why we do what we do

TES Ventures and Amplifier have joined forces to radically increase the sustainability of air mobility. For the past year we have conducted extensive research on various ways to achieve this goal. What we found is that the latest developments in material, production and design technologies now enable the successful development of hybrid airships. A hybrid airship, combining the power of floatation and wings, is the pareto-optimal between speed and efficiency. Therefore, our venture is named after the jellyfish Aurelia Aurita, the most energy-efficient traveler in the animal kingdom.

What you will do

Together, we will develop hybrid airships, using a unique stage-gated approach to achieve a time-to-market unprecedented in the air mobility industry. In your role, you will lead the strategic, commercial and organisational side of the venture. Taking the early stage investigations developed by start-up studio TES Ventures and a team of international advisors, you will hit the ground running. You will conduct market analysis and user research; build the venture and product strategy, as well as the company brand; hire, grow & manage the team; and manage partner- and investor relationships. In the following phase you will build detailed financial models, draft pitch-decks and be responsible for raising capital and grant applications.

You will form a symbiotic team with the CTO. Together you build a realistic yet ambitious roadmap with clear responsibilities, delivering in-scope, on-time and on-budget towards both internal and external stakeholders

Are you motivated by problems so complex, that no-one has solved them so far? Are you interested in projects that have the potential to change the world? Do you want to be a part of an impactful mission? This role requires a specific skill-set geared towards successful complex hardware development in a fast-paced environment with high uncertainty. As such, you:

// Have a background in engineering/physics applied in product development, combined with at least 3 years of entrepreneurial experience within a hardware scale-up (think Tesla or Airbus A3), leading the growth from start-up (< 10 fte, pre-seed or seed) to scale-up (> 50 fte, series B). With exposure to raising capital and managing investor relations.

// Have demonstrated experience building, leading and growing a future-proof technology company, which includes market analysis, strategy development & execution, business modelling & development, raising capital and recruiting talent. You have a good understanding of the following market domains: unmanned aerial vehicles and remote-sensing including, satellites, drones & Internet of Things.

// Are a natural leader and have shown that you can recruit, set up, grow and manage a high-performance team for complex hardware development. Within this highly dynamic environment you have shown experience in designing the organisational structure and building a fun and productive culture.

// Are comfortable both in a suit and in overalls, with boardroom panache & inventor ingenuity. You can handle negotiations with supply-chain and investors, but also understand production of highly innovative products.

// Have a broad network with DMUs at innovation and R&D departments of highly innovative companies across the value-chain; materials (e.g. DSM, Teijin, BASF), design (e.g. Autodesk, Altair) and production (3D printing, composites), energy systems, application (e.g. industry, agriculture, NGOs) and academia. Leveraging your network, you can set up and build upon partnerships, both in the technical & commercial domain towards the development of a supportive ecosystem.

// Can identify bottlenecks, assess risk, interpret data and connects dots ten times faster than your peers. You can rapidly reason towards solutions, can think on your feet and make complex decisions easily, yet accurately.

// Draft a clear vision and are able to communicate this vision attractively. You are adept at marketing, storytelling, presenting and novel innovation methods such as crowd-sourcing, to build on external momentum and create a movement for radically sustainable air transport.

// Value data over opinions and are able to quickly build financial models to validate assumptions. Highly motivated and ambitious, you are able to to engage people around you and provide clear guidance.

// Have entrepreneurial intuition linking a clear overview of both technical and commercial trends, with complex technical trade-offs to customer demands and financial viability. You can acquire and analyse data, craft a clear data-driven strategy and able to communicate this with passion and clarity.

// Balance your work and private life, and promote this towards others. We value a fun, sustainable working culture in which your happiness and health remain central. In order to perform at your best, balance and boundaries are key.
